Kai Frithjof Brand-Jacobsen is regarded as one of the leading pioneers, innovators and practitioners in the field of peacebuilding, conflict transformation and addressing challenging and complex conflicts and crisis in the world today. For more than 20 years he has worked across all continents and many of the most challenging conflicts – from Iraq to Afghanistan, Darfur Sudan, Israel-Palestine, Cyprus, Northern Ireland, Sri Lanka, Nigeria and elsewhere – at the invitation of the United Nations, governments, international agencies and organizations, and local communities affected by conflict and war.

In 2019 he has been awarded the Martin Luther King Jr. – Gandhi – Ikeda Lifetime Achievement Award by Martin Luther King Jrs. Alma Mater, Morehouse College. In 2017, PATRIR, the organization he leads, was awarded the Luxembourg International Peace Prize for Outstanding Peace Organization.

In 2011 it won the World Vision International Peace Prize, receiving more write-ins in support from governments, citizens and organisations world-wide than every other organization combined in the history of the award.
